Sam, 37, was signed to Simon Cowell’s label Syco but her contract has expired and, after the repackaged version of her album only made it to number 45 in the charts, her future is uncertain.

The mum-of-three told the Mirror: “My contract has finished today with Syco so I don’t know what is going to happen. I just don’t know.

“There is a cooling-off period and then there are negotiations, so we’ll see. I could be unemployed tomorrow.”

But Sam doesn’t seem too bothered, hinting that she has other projects in the pipeline.

She continued: “There are other things I could be doing, I am getting a lot of interest in all sorts of directions.

“There are other things I want to do. Negotiations start this week. I just want to get Christmas out the way first.”

Sam released her debut album, The Power of Love, consisting mainly of covers, on Mother’s Day this year.

The deluxe edition was recently released, despite the face she hasn’t put out any singles since her winner’s song last December.

A source said of Sam’s future at Syco: “The label are in discussions over Sam’s future – but no formal decision has been made as yet. No decision is expected before the New Year.”
