This weekend’s X Factor may have seen Tamera Foster fluff her lyrics a third time while singing James Arthur’s Impossible, but it was Hannah Barrett who was eliminated, much to the annoyance of Nicole Scherzinger who slammed the British public for not voting to keep her in.

And she wasn’t alone, both Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh took not-so-subtle swipes at Tamera for forgetting her lines when they both opted to save Rough Copy in the sing off.

As Tamera survives another week she is forced to face more negative publicity. Last week she admitted attacking a girl on a train in 2012, and after the audtion stages of the show she reportedly apologised to producers after being caught shop lifting in Boots. Despite the controversy surrounding Tamera, Sam Bailey has leapt to her defense.

Sam tells Closer: “Tamera has had bad luck with the press and people need to take into consideration that she’s only 16. You forget she is so young because she doesn’t look 16, but she is quite shy, she’s a baby in some ways. There are plenty of 16-year-olds who have done what she’s done, but because she’s in the public eye she’s having to deal with this.”

And despite suffering a bad week on the show Sam thinks Tamera has the talent to go all the way to the final. She adds: “You can’t take away from the fact Tamera is a really talented girl and is going to be a big star. By the time she is 25 her voice will be amazing, and you only have to listen to her sing to know she’s going to be a success.”
