X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger has spoken out about how she will stand by former X Factor contestant and winner James Arthur in the wake of homophobic twitter scandal.

Nicole Scherzinger mentored the controversial singer in 2012’s X Factor run, and has jumped to his defence following his emotional apology to fans after his last X Factor live show performance.

Nicole told Digital Spy: "I'm just there for him. I don't read the press, I know who he is as a person, I know his heart.’

The gorgeous judge continued: ‘I'm just there to support him. He's unbelievably talented and he's worked so hard on his album. In the end I know that the cream will always rise to the top.’

Nicole mentored James in 2012, leading him to X factor glory.

James sparked controversy after making homophobic comments in a rap song. The controversy then spread to twitter and he eventually deleted his twitter account following a backlash from fans.

Nicole’s fellow judge Louis Walsh recently spoke out against James, calling him a ‘competition winner that got lucky.’
