Former Spice Girl Mel, 39, is said to have fallen ill this week, and is refusing to see her act Andrea Faustini in case she passes her illness on to him.
A source told the Daily Star: “Poor Andrea is feeling abandoned. He is already nervous about the final. It is such a massive night, who wouldn’t be?
“The poor lad is having to fend for himself backstage in the run-up to the biggest night of his life. But Mel can’t help it.
“She is so poorly and may have to miss the final altogether.”
And an X Factor spokesperson confirmed the news, adding: “There’s a chance she won’t make it, absolutely.”
Andrea, 20, is going up against Simon Cowell’s over 25s, Ben Haenow and Fleur East. Fleur is favourite to win the show after her performance of Uptown Funk topped the iTunes chart this week.
It seems Andrea definitely has a tough fight on his hands, especially if he’s there without his mentor.
Fleur said of the final: “I am the last female standing. I am going to take full advantage that it’s an arena and I will make it bigger and better than before.”
This weekend’s final will feature performances from Olly Murs and Demi Lovato, Sam Smith, One Direction and Ed Sheeran.
