Nick, 30, initially booted Tom out of his final six, but was forced to change his mind when the crowd at Wembley reacted in uproar.

Now though, Tom has revealed he’s quit the show. Writing on Twitter, he said: “Due to personal reasons I have decided to withdraw from The X Factor.

“Thank you to all the judges, especially Nick for believing in me. I want to wish all the contestants the best of luck and thank you to the public for supporting me and my dream. #xfactor [sic].”

Last week Tom appeared on The Ellen Show in America and performed with Jessie J, after their duet of her song Flashlight when viral earlier this year.

It’s been claimed that Tom is set to land a record deal without the help of Simon Cowell and The X Factor, thanks to his friendship with Jessie and his US exposure.

The X Factor confirmed Tom is now out of the competition, and Nick, 30, replied to his tweets: “Well done Tom for handling the pressure of the circus that is 6chair! And best of luck for the future x [sic].”
