He’s only been away for one year, but reports say that Louis has been offered a healthy sum to get back in the judging chair.

There’s been plenty of judges come and go across the X Factors’ 11-year run, but one face that’s been pretty constant is the loveable Louis Walsh.

That’s why we just didn’t quite know how to react when Louis didn’t return to our screens for the 2015 edition of the talent show, with radio host Nick Grimshaw taking to the panel instead.

But with the news that Grimshaw will not be returning for the 2016 run, it’s been speculated that the Irish music manager who brought us Westlife (as he wont let us forget) will be making an X Factor comeback.

According to reports, the 63-year-old former judge was in talks with music mogul Simon Cowell last week about returning the ITV show, and it’s been reported he’s been offered a healthy £800,000 to do so.

And although nothing has been set in stone, its been reported that both parties are keen to see Louis back on the panel for 2016.

Previously, Louis has told how he would interested in returning to the family favourite show.

Speaking of the diagnosis that he had mild hearing loss to The Mirror, he said:

“Would it stop me being able to judge on The X Factor? Of course not. If Simon asked me back, and I thought it would be fun, then absolutely I would.

“If he wants the dream team then he gets me, him, Sharon Osbourne and either Mel B or Nicole Scherzinger.”

“I’ve had a year off and it’s been great. But I used to watch it and ring Simon after and tell him exactly what I thought was wrong with the show. He used to hate it.

“Simon needs to make a lot of changes, but he knows this.”
