Mitch Winehouse took to Twitter this week to reveal to fans:
“First I have heard about Beyoncé and Back to Black. Sounds like some of you don’t like the idea.”
He later added: “Let me repeat. This is the first I have heard of Beyoncé doing Amys song.”
Beyoncé will be covering Winehouse’s hit song for the soundtrack to the forthcoming Hollywood remake of The Great Gatsby.
She is said to be planning to give the song an original twist and will duet with Andre 3000 from Outkast.
Husband Jay Z worked with filmmaker Baz Luhrmann to produce the soundtrack to the movie, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire, and revealed:
'I can appreciate her donation but that's just a drop in the bucket for her. This makes me sad'
"It's ripe for experimentation and ready to be interpreted with a modern twist."
Following Mitch’s discovery on Tuesday, he suggested the Ego singer donate £100,000 to the Amy Winehouse foundation, tweeting:
“I don’t know this but what if Beyoncé gave £100,000 to foundation. Do you know how many kids that would help? Just putting it out there.”
Winehouse fans have had mixed reactions, with one tweeting, “I can appreciate her donation but that's a drop in the bucket for her. This makes me sad. It's way too soon.”
Mitch set up the foundation to help young people suffering from drug and alcohol abuse following Amy’s death from alcohol poisoning in 2011.
