Will Young heartbroken as twin brother dies aged 41

Will Young's twin brother Rupert has sadly passed away aged 41.

A spokesperson for their family announced the devastating news in a statement saying, "I can confirm that Will's brother has very sadly passed away.

"We would like to request privacy for Will and his family during this very difficult and sad time."

Will is 10 minutes older than his twin brother and hasn't yet spoken out about his brother's death. It is also not yet known the cause of his passing.

Rupert had previously spoken out about battling with his mental health, and according to the BBC he admitted that he had been "badly affected by depressive conditions" and had "suffered from addiction, self-harm and major depression".

"I was in and out of hospital more than ten times. I saw the top doctors and psychiatrists in the country, but the mental health system here is overloaded…I was never actually properly assessed," he told the Telegraph.

He went on to say, "They just told me I was an addict and that was why I was the way I was. It took 20 years and huge expense to get me to a safe place."

"Those are not options that most other people have."

In 2008 Rupert launched Mood Foundation, a charity where private therapists offered free treatment to people diagnosed with depression or anxiety. However according to the Charity Commission it has since closed.

Will has previously spoken out about his brother's addiction and admitted that at one point his family distanced themselves from him in the hopes of helping.

"It was the family stepping away that actually got him better. It's very tough having a family member who is an addict. But when you're dealing with that you eventually have to just stop and look after yourself.

"Me, my parents, my older sister, everyone. We all just had to walk away. We had to leave him," he told the Daily Record.
