Will Young has been given a six-month driving ban after crashing into a parked vehicle at ‘excessive speed’.
The 39-year-old singer, who took part in the 2016 series of Strictly Come Dancing, was given the punishment earlier today at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
The court heard how Will was on the A68 driving towards Edinburgh in January when he mistook a bollard for the central reservation. As a result, he drove into a lay-by with a parked car in it, at about 40 miles per hour.
The owner of the parked Nissan Qashqai was returning from a friend's farm and was crossing the lay-by at the time. He recalled how he then had to "jump clear to avoid being struck.”

Will braked to avoid hitting the man but lost control of his 4x4 and crashed into the parked car, writing it off. The singer’s car was also damaged.
His lawyer said "clearly he made a mistake" by mistaking the bollards, which marked the entry to the lay-by, for the central reservation.
The Strictly star said he was "extremely apologetic" for his "momentary loss of control.”
He pled guilty to driving without due care, driving at excessive speed for the weather conditions and for entering a lay-by at Selkirk Sherriff Court, before his sentencing today.
He was given five penalty points and banned from driving for six months. There were already 11 points on his licence, as well as a 1998 drink-driving conviction.
Sheriff J Euan Edment who imposed the sentence told the singer: "I understand it's been a momentary lapse in concentration. To your credit you pled guilty from the outset.”
