It's been a turbulent month for the TV presenting duo.
Ant McPartlin was involved in a collision that saw a 4-year-old girl be taken to hospital, was arrested for drink driving and then taken to rehab for his alcohol abuse. Dec Donnellyannounced that he's expecting this first first child with with wife Aliand he's been roped into hosting Saturday Night Takeaway on his own.
Splitting up Ant and Dec, is like splitting up a KitKat. Imagine the uproar in Tesco if KitKats became simply 'Kit'. One row of chocolate biscuit is never enough,
This is why Saturday Night Takeaway bosses are 'panicking' as they are unsure of how to Ant McPartlin’s absence from the show due to his drink driving arrest and stint in rehab.
Do they issue a heartfelt message for Ant's speedy recovery? Do they aplologise for Ant's arrest? Do they make a zillion gags about Dec presenting the show alone? Or do they just ignore the elephant in the room and pray no one brings it up?
A source told The Sun: ‘The bosses are torn in regards to how they can hit the right tone.
‘They want to be respectful to people involved in Ant’s car accident, while not bringing down the mood of the show.
‘Takeaway is all about having fun and they fear a sombre start may seriously effect the quality of the output.’
It is expected the final decision will be made at a ‘production summit’ this morning.
Some usual segments have been dropped from the show to minimize awkwardness, including Ant Vs Dec, Undercover, Read My Lips and Get Out Of Me Ear
