On Tuesday, the former Spice Girl posted pictures of her trip to Soweto on behalf of the UNAIDS campaign, where she met women and babies effected by the disease.

Tweeting a photo of her holding an adorable, wide-eyed baby, she wrote: ‘In the last 3 years @ejaf have helped over 60,000 mothers give birth to HIV free babies. X vb.’

She also added a photo of her chatting to two women in a clinic, writing: ‘Visiting Nhlanhla in Soweto discussing the protection of babies against HIV x vb.’

Victoria announced her new role as a UN Goodwill Ambassador at a press conference last month. The star, who will join Emma Watson, Angelina Jolie and Leonardo DiCaprio as an ambassador, said her public profile meant she wanted to do more about women’s health.

‘I am a mother and I am a woman. I will do whatever I can to raise awareness. I feel very passionate about this.’

‘It’s taken me to get to 40 to realise I have a responsibility as a woman and as a mother. For some reason people will listen to me. This is the beginning of an incredible journey for me.’

Victoria plans to travel the world raising awareness for her cause, and wants to make sure every woman has the right to give their child access to healthcare.

‘It’s why I realise I have to step forward and do whatever I can do. I want to get to know the women and understand them. It was life changing when I went to South Africa.’

We're excited to see where VB's travels take her next, as she promotes women and children's access to healthcare around the globe.
