Victoria's role comes after a visit to AIDS stricken South Africa in February brought her attention to the cause.

'I recently visited South Africa and was so touched by the women I met and felt inspired,' she said, adding: 'I came home and knew I had to do something.'

Beckham, 40, has been incredibly busy of late - this week also opening a new store that will stock her designer label. Unfortunately the former pop singer actually missed the grand opening of the shop to attend the UN Conference, but husband David, 39, and her supportive sons were on hand to make sure everything ran smoothly in the London branch.
