After another row, Victoria Beckham's worried about her son Brooklyn
She’s always been very close to her children, especially eldest son Brooklyn. But last week, Victoria Beckham was dealt a bitter blow when he snubbed a family christening to go on holiday with his girlfriend, Hana Cross.
And while that may not seem a huge deal to many people, for Victoria – who has helped build the Beckham brand on a strong family image – we’re told the designer is terrified she’s losing her son, and that things will never be the same again.
It doesn’t help that she and Hana have reportedly had a strained relationship in recent weeks, and now she fears Brooklyn may start choosing his girlfriend over her.
“After all the turmoil of the last few weeks with the family’s fallout with Hana, Brooklyn was making a very public declaration when he chose to post all the pictures of him being with her instead of at the christening,” an insider tells heat.

“It’s been a drama-filled time recently, thanks to Brooklyn and Hana, and it’s caused so many rows at home. Vic’s friends are saying it was probably inevitable because of how close Brooklyn was with his parents. He literally hung around with them like best friends, worked with them and lived in their shadows. He’s still so young, so until now, he’s really only just followed whatever they said or advised.
"Chloë [Moretz, his previous girlfriend] was similar to him – mature and sweet – but their trouble also started when the relationship developed to the point when Brooklyn needed to start making his own decisions.
“This time around, though, Brooklyn is older, and wantingto be more independent. Hana brings excitement. She’s gorgeous, wild and crazy – everything he’s never had the chance to be.”
The family event he missed was the baptism of Victoria’s brother’s daughter, Tabatha, and all the other members of the Beckham family attended, along with Vic’s parents, sister, and her nieces and nephews. Wannabe photographer Brooklyn’s presence is normally a given at these kind of big occasions, but he flew to LA to join Hana instead.
And we’re told that Victoria – who has three other children, Romeo, 16, Cruz, 14, and seven-year-old Harper, with husband David – wanted to use the recent family trip to Miami – which Hana didn’t go on – to speak to Brooklyn about his relationship.
“Both David and Vic have been having chats with Brooklyn, and the Miami holiday was supposed to be a chance for the family to get back on track without Hana around, but it all backfired,”we’re told.
“Brooklyn was in constant contact with Hana, telling her what they’d spoken about, and she demanded that he stood up for her and stopped acting like a little boy. So he told them ‘enough’ – he’s not a kid any more and they need to back off.”

The insider continues, “Vic is heartbroken by everything that’s happening , as she feels like she’s losing her son. He won’t listen to anything she says – he just tells her to stop interfering and then points out her own flaws.
"It’s the type of teenage bad behaviour she never experienced with him before, and it’s really upsetting for her. It’s affecting David, too – although he’s not as emotional. He’s quite angry with Brooklyn – this is the first time they’re challenging each other. Brooklyn was making a huge point to his parents by flying out to LA to meet Hana and prove he is in control. And she made sure they posted loved-up pictures of themselves on social media.”
Brooklyn, 20, began dating the 22-year-old model last year and they have had a very volatile relationship. While they have openly declared their love for each other, they have also been pictured rowing in public on a couple of occasions. And last month, there were reports the couple had a huge bust-up at the Cannes Film Festival.
As has been reported reported, Victoria, in particular, has not been impressed by some of Hana’s behaviour, and she and the model were said to have clashed during a recent trip to Manchester to watch David play in a charity football match. But we’re told both David and Victoria know they have to improve the situation if they want to remain close to Brooklyn.
They are also aware that any family fallouts will be damaging to Brand Beckham and the image they have built up.
“This is their worst nightmare, seeing Brooklyn so enthralled by this girl that he’s repeating everything she says,” adds the source. “They accept they’re probably too protective of him, and, of course, they realise he’s just trying to assert his independence, but they are concerned he may be making a mistake with her and can’t keep quiet.
"They just want to protect him. But they’ve made the decision to try to smooth things over with Hana again. They figure the only way forward is to try to welcome her back into the family.
“They understand that her thinking of them as the enemy is the worst possible scenario, and that she currently has more sway over Brooklyn than they do. They’re trying to have some sort of positive influence – and not have the two of them doing stuff that gets the wrong kind of attention."
