They wed in April this year, in a romantic, celebrity-studded ceremony at an ocean-front villa in Palm Beach. But while Nicola Peltz settles into her newly married life with Brooklyn Beckham, insiders have revealed how his mum Victoria is hoping the couple will start a family soon.
The fashion designer looked gorgeous in a slinky slip dress as she watched her eldest son, 23, marry his actress fiancée, and a source says Posh, 48, has no intention of sporting cardigans and watching quiz shows when she becomes a granny.
“Vic wants to rip up the rule book and be a young and glamorous nan,” the source tells Closer.
“She’s already excited about the next generation of baby Beckhams, and she’s hoping Brooklyn and Nicola don’t keep them waiting too long!”
After having Brooklyn at 24 – just four months before she and husband David married – and going on to have Romeo, now 19, Cruz, 17, and Harper, 10, the insider says Posh is harbouring hopes that Nicola, 27, will want to start a family in her twenties, too.
Victoria’s mum, Jackie, also welcomed her daughter when she was 24 years old.
The source adds, “Victoria feels really passionate about it, because she never wasted any time in getting pregnant and doesn’t regret any of it. She’s told Brooklyn that she and his dad had no clue what they were doing when they welcomed him early on in their marriage, but they made it work.
“She’s already been giving Nicola lots of tips on what she should be eating if she wants to get herself ‘baby ready’.”
And while Brooklyn revealed to fans during an Instagram Q&A last year how his dream for the future was to become “an amazing dad”, the source says he doesn’t want his new wife to feel pressured straight after the wedding.
Nicola has also been focusing on her career, after directing indie film Lola Jones, in which she plays a pregnant 19-year-old. It’s set to be released later this year, and fans have already hinted there may be some tension between the actress and her mother-in-law after Victoria failed to call the couple by their married surname “Peltz-Beckham” in her congratulatory Instagram post.
Now the source adds, “Even Brooklyn has had a quiet word with his mum, as he doesn’t think she should be dropping hints around Nicola that she shouldn’t wait too long to get pregnant.
“Brooklyn loves the idea of becoming a dad but he feels as though they’re still in the honeymoon phase of their relationship and Nicola knows her own mind.
“He’s excited about what the world has to offer them after their wedding, and would just like to enjoy married life a little longer before they have a baby. He definitely wants a big family like his parents, but the thought of it is quite overwhelming.”
The couple have both spoken out about how important family is to them and shared their hopes of having one of their own – when the time is right.
Following their engagement, Brooklyn posted on Instagram, “Two weeks ago I asked my soulmate to marry me and she said yes. I am the luckiest man in the world. I promise to be the best husband and the best daddy one day. I love you baby.”
Nicola, daughter of American billionaire Nelson Peltz, is also very family orientated – having six brothers and one sister, and a tattoo on her ribs that reads “Family first”.
But for now, the couple are in between houses, having put their £9 million mansion in LA up for sale just a year after moving in. They’re reportedly looking to settle in Miami, which is closer to Nicola’s family and where David and Romeo are based with their soccer team, Inter Miami.
Nicola and Brooklyn were also thought to be looking for a place in London when they visited ahead of their wedding.
Sources have said they could look to raise their children between the US and the UK, and Victoria is delighted at the prospect of her family and future grandchildren being close, after previously revealing how she misses them “so much” now only Harper lives at their family home in west London.
She explained earlier this year, “We all love being in Miami. But London is where I come to the office every day and where Harper goes to school.”
And now the insider says the lovebirds’ London home will provide the perfect opportunity for Victoria to be more hands-on with her grandchildren, and that she’s already been inviting Nicola over for lunch when
they fly over and giving her tips on nutrition.
The source adds, “Victoria is trying to be as subtle as she can but she’s making no secret of how excited she is for them to add more additions to the family and would love an even bigger family brood.
“Of course she wouldn’t say it, but with ‘brand Beckham’ getting stronger by the day now that Brooklyn and Nicola have become stars in their own right, Victoria is excited for babies to make them even bigger.”
