The 26-year-old appeared on This Morning to perform her new single Living Without You and said that her ‘year from hell’ – during which she appeared in court for being concerned with the supply of class A drugs – made her more understanding.

She said: “I have to be grateful to my fans and the British public for being so kind and accepting of me to come back into the industry.

“Without sounding cheesy, I feel like I’m more understanding of other people’s feelings and needs and I’m a lot less judgemental.

“It makes you look at other people’s experiences – I’ve put my life into perspective.”

The former X Factor judge – who stood in for ill Mel B during the final last weekend – also revealed she struggled to pick her comeback single.

She said: “It’s funny because even though the trial was over, I felt like I’d only come half way – the other half was getting my career back on track.

“I was freaking out about it. I was on the phone to the record label every day giving them like six different singles until they finally liked one.”

Tulisa’s acoustic performance of the track received mixed reviews on Twitter.

One user wrote: “I can’t decide whether Tulisa singing acoustic on This Morning was bad or ridiculously bad [sic]”

But another said: “Props to Tulisa for singing acoustic on this morning. Would Cheryl Cole do that? No chance.”
