Ricky Rayment and Marnie Simpson left friends AND fans shocked when they announced that they were engaged, just six months after they started dating.
However the pair have since been rocked by rumours of a breakup, after 23-year-old Marnie was spotted leaving a club with another man.
Speaking with Now magazine, Ricky, 25, insisted that Marnie did NOT cheat on him - and that the man she was spotted with was ‘just a friend’.
But he also let slip that the Geordie Shore star had dumped him by text.
Explaining that he and Marnie hadn’t been getting on for a couple of weeks, Ricky revealed that he suggested to his fiancée that they spend a little time apart.
But Marnie took Ricky’s words in entirely the wrong way.
He said: “I said to her ‘Let’s rejuvenate things – you go back to Newcastle for a bit and I’ll stay here. You can go and see your mates and I’ll see mine and everything will go back to normal.’
“She took it the wrong way.”
The former TOWIE star continued: “She ended up breaking up with me. I was pretty devastated.
“She was on her way home and she texted me.”
However, despite all the drama, it seems as if there might still be hope for the pair.
And Ricky, who is currently filming The Big Fish in Thailand, is keen to see Marnie when he’s back in the UK.
He said: “It’s been an upsetting time, but love isn’t easy. When you do find the one you want to be with for ever you have to do everything you can to make sure you get through it.”
Fingers crossed they can work things out, eh?
