TOWIE legend Nanny Pat has tragically passed away at the age of 80.
A statement from her family, including Mark Wright and Jessica Wright, confirmed the sad news to fans of The Only Way Is Essex.
It read: “Sadly our amazing, courageous and beautiful Nanny Pat passed away this morning after a short illness.
“We are overwhelmed by sadness, and the whole family ask for privacy at this horrible time.”
And we imagine her grandson, Mark, will be very happy to know that his beloved nan gave his wife the Nanny Pat seal of approval.
When asked how she felt about grandson Mark and Michelle’s relationship, Pat replied: “Michelle is lovely, she’s beautiful.
“Well, she’s better than the other one, ain’t she?”
She also offered him some sensible relationship advice, telling Heat that her secret to a long and happy marriage was to: “Just get on with your life…I had no parents to run back to but the kids now have got parents and say, ‘Mum, I can’t put up with him or her and all that’ – we had to get on with it.”
Nanny Pat celebrated her 80th birthday on the ITVBe reality show just last month, enjoying a royal wedding themed birthday bash in Surrey.
During the episode, the lovely lady broke down in tears as she remembered her late husband, Charlie.
She said at the time: “He's everywhere.”
Charlie and Nanny Pat were the proud parents of five children, including daughter Carol Wright.
But the sausage plait fanatic’s role as the Wright family matriarch was cemented when she welcomed 14 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Our thoughts are with her family at this sad time.
