The Only Way is Essex's Mario Falcone took a combination of pills and alcohol following his split from Lucy Mecklenburgh in 2013.

"In 24 hours my life had gone from being perfect to being in tatters"

The Italian reality star woke up at 5am being violently sick - and revealed on ITV's This Morning that he immediately regretted trying to end his own life.

Mario said.: "I just got into a really bad rut.

"I got myself into a monotonous routine, thing weren't going well with Lucy.

"I had two girls coming into TOWIE and claiming that I'd slept with them both. My two best friends turned against me. And then I broke up with Lucy.

"In 24 hours my life had gone from being perfect to being in tatters."

The TOWIE star made a snap decision to down a lethal cocktail of pills and alcohol - but now, looking back, he admits he has no idea how he ended up in such a state.

"I look back at it now and I wonder how I ever got into that place.

"It was very much an impulsive thing. I don't think I wanted to end my life. I just wanted to end the circumstances I was in.

"I had got myself into a corner. I'd lost my friends, I'd lost my girlfriends. I was very isolated. I didn't want to talk to anyone.

"It was more of a cry for help I guess."

Tom Fletcher, wife Giovanna and baby Buzz (Mario's nephew)

Mario explained that the birth of his sister Giovanni's son, Buzz, with McFly's Tom Fletcher, helped him to recover.

"I look at him and think if I can love someone that much... I can't wait to have kids."

We're so glad to hear that Mario Falcone is in a better, more emotionally healthy place now.
