The 52-year-old has previously opened up about her drinking and drug-taking, but she’s insisted giving up illegal substances was much easier than cutting certain foods out of her life.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Shameless actress Tina said: “I can’t control the amount of food I eat. You can abstain from drink and drugs and cigarettes if you have help but you can’t abstain from food and I’m n ‘all or nothing’ kind of person.

“I didn’t do crystal meth or heroin or sh*t like that. But I dabbled with almost every drug. I tried most drugs and my drug of choice would always be a brandy or a bottle of gin. I’ll always be an alcoholic, that’s just the way it is.”

Tina, who had a gastric band fitted in an attempt to control her eating, confessed it’s not just food she’s obsessive with.

She continued: “I’m obsessive compulsive. I don’t ever want sex for five minutes. I don’t bother unless it’s going to be all night. I don’t want a packet of crisps. I want all six packets.

“I get addictions to things – drink, drugs, food, sex. I am aware of nutrition and I do now eat things like mackerel and garlic.”
