We're delighted to welcome Tina Malone to the Closer fold as our guest columnist for November sharing her views on the news. Tina - who found fame in TV's Shameless as the larger-than–life Mimi Maguire – lost 11st following a gastric op in 2010. She put on, then lost almost four stone following the birth of her second daughter Flame last year. Now just weeks away from plastic surgery to remove excess skin, Tina says she's fit, healthy and excited for the future. We couldn't be happier for her – and hope you love irrepressible Tina's column.

Of course, worries about size don't only concern the larger things in life. Take, for example, the case of the man who chopped off his own privates – claiming his girlfriend had dumped him for being a let-down in bed which he blamed on his small penis. Police later found it in a bin and surgeons managed to stitch it back on – though warned it might not function properly. Awkward! If only he'd realised – like all size issues – that instead of drastic measures, it's about learning to accept who you are and not worrying about other people's perceptions.

Meanwhile, for a far safer way to wield a knife, why not carve out a fabulous Halloween lantern? We've got all the tips and inspirations for you to turn your pumpkin into a spooky centrepiece. Enjoy
