Music fans have woken up to the sad news that Blues star BB King has died.

The 89-year-old reportedly passed away peacefully in his sleep at around 9.40pm at his home in Las Vegas.

The Associated Press announced his death after receiving the news from the musician’s lawyers.

King entered a hospice care home on May 1 after being rushed to hospital with health complications several times in April this year.

His death comes just a week after a legal dispute over his wealth was thrown out of court by a Las Vegas judge. His business manager Laverne Toney was then given legal control over his affairs.

The Blues star sold millions of records and won 15 Grammys throughout his career.

He made a name for himself with his soulful vocals and as a guitar mentor to other musical legends such as Eric Clapton.

Our thoughts go out to his friends and family at this sad and difficult time.
