As any woman who's had a baby knows, your body is never quite the same after the birth.
An unfair and damaging expectation often put on women after giving birth is that they'll be losing the weight they gained during pregnancy. Tess Holliday hit back at that assumption in a recent Instagram post - but also revealed that, despite her usual positivity about her body, she struggles sometimes to adjust to its new shape.
"Each day feels like a battle to learn how to love my body postpartum. It's been 6 months, & my stomach is lower, my breasts are a different shape, new stretch marks & I feel like a stranger in my body more than ever," she wrote.
"I wasn't anticipating this at all. I'm not used to looking in the mirror & feeling like I don't recognize myself, but sadly that's my reality some days."
Plus-size model Tess, 31, gave birth to her and her husband Nick's son Bowie six months ago. She also has an elder son, Rilee, 11, from a previous relationship.
She criticised the media's tendency to pressure new mums, especially those in the public eye, to lose weight, writing: I" think it's important to be honest about what it's like to be a woman in the media, who recently had a baby & the pressure that's put on new moms to 'lose the baby weight'.
"I was fat before, I carried a healthy baby, & guess what, still fat... & THATS OKAY. I have no New Years resolution to lose weight, but only to work on learning my new body & loving & nurturing it."
At the end of the post she added the hashtag #effyourbeautystandards, a phrase she coined to share body positivity about all sizes and shapes.
She isn't the only high-profile mum to speak out about accepting her changing post-pregnancy body.
Chrissy Teigen recently revealed that her body changed shape after she had her daughter Luna.
