The 46-year-old, who is mum to daughters Phoebe, 10, and six-year-old Amber, said that she and Vernon aren’t planning to leave them an inheritance.
Speaking to You magazine, Tess said: “I’m not in a position to provide for my children’s future, but even if I could I wouldn’t want to.
“You can’t make life too east, because you remove their will to succeed.”
Tess claimed they try to teach the girls money has to be earned and it doesn’t just get handed over.
She continued: “I’d hate to have a spoilt brat – I’d think I hadn’t done my job properly. I want them to be appreciative.
“Right now, we’re setting up a pocket money system with my eldest. We’re doing reward and we’ve explained that we can’t buy her everything.”
Tess and Vernon’s attitude to raising their children is refreshing to hear, considering he reportedly earns £2 million a year from his presenting jobs.
Their parenting echoes that of David and Victoria Beckham who, despite being worth around £250 million, still make their kids work.
Appearing on The Ellen show earlier this year, Victoria, 41, said: “[Brooklyn’s] worked in the local café cleaning up dishes for the last two years, which I think is great.
“It’s important that the kids have a good work ethic and try to help other people as well.”
