It appears not everyone learnt from the famous Kanye West vs Taylor Swift Best Video grammy spat in 2009.
When Taylor Swift was presented with the award for Best Female Video at the 2009 VMAs, Kanye West crashed the singer’s acceptance speech, ranting: “I’m sorry, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time”.
Although the artists have now put the spat behind them, it looks as though Taylor has new VMA shaped beef on her hands.
Following Nicki Minaj’s Video Of The Year VMA snub for hit Anaconda, the 32-year-old took to Twitter yesterday to air her frustrations very publicly, writing:
"If I was a different "kind" of artist, Anaconda would be nominated for best choreo and vid of the year as well.”
"When the "other" girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture they get that nomination."
Nicki then added: "If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year.”
And it seems Taylor took offence to this tweet, responding directly to the singer with:
"@NICKIMINAJ I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot..”.
Nicki then hit back with: "Huh? U must not be reading my tweets. Didn't say a word about u. I love u just as much. But u should speak on this. @taylorswift13,” before retweeting fans demanding an apology from Taylor.
Taylor responded, tweeting: "@NICKIMINAJ If I win, please come up with me!! You're invited to any stage I'm ever on.”
But it seems Nicki isn’t too happy with Taylor, continuing to retweet fans' comments, one of which read:
"I'm baffled as to WHY @taylorswift13 felt the need to come at @NickiMinaj for speaking on behalf of unsung black female entertainers..”.
Now, now girls.
