The singer, 17, was signed to Syco despite not even making it to the final of last year’s X Factor.
During her time on the show, Tamera forgot her words on stage various times and puts it down to having so much going on at that time.
She told a UK magazine: “I feel comfortable now. I had a million different things going around in my head – dances to remember, which camera to look at – there are all these cues you have to catch, you’re constantly thinking while you’re singing.”
Tamera, who is dating fellow X Factor contestant Sam Callaghan, 19, spoke about why some other artists haven’t made it further than the competition and admitted she thinks it’s all about what each person does with the opportunity.
“I think some artists that have disappeared from the show are people with good voices who can’t really showcase it because they’re just doing covers,” she said. “Not many people really know what kind of artist they are.”
But Tamera doesn’t put herself in that category, insisting: “I left knowing what to do, knowing what y sound is and the type of person I wanna work with – the show gives you a platform, it’s up to you what you do with it”
Tamera told the magazine she hopes to collaborate with artists such as John Legend and Drake, and said: “I’ve been writing poetry and short stories. I’ve been listening to a lot of music, and just trying to get my head around learning how to write.”
