Suzanne Shaw has opened up about giving birth to baby boy Rafferty – confessing that she had no pain relief.

The 34-year-old welcomed her second child in October last year at home, something which she insists has created long-lasting memories.

Speaking to The Sun, Suzanne said: “It was just a brilliant experience. I will always look at this kitchen and think this is where Raffi was born. It was the best possible place to have a child.”

Former Hear’Say singer Suzanne admitted she was skeptical about going drug-free at first, but her hypnobirthing techniques got her through.

She continued: “I was frightened beforehand. I kept thinking, ‘I’m actually going into this without an pain relief in my own home’.

“We did have back up if I wanted but I didn’t need it. The combination of the hypnobirthing and the pool was medication enough.”

Amazingly Suzanne claimed she was pain-free for most of the birth, adding: “I was in labour for seven hours but for five and a half of those hours, it was close to pain free. The last hour, when I needed to start pushing, was when I felt like I was in labour.”

The ex-Emmerdale actress also shared some amazing photos of her home birth on Instagram, showing her and fiance Sam Greenfield with their baby moments after he was born.

Suzanne is also mum to 11-year-old Corey, from her relationship with Celebrity Big Brother star Darren Day.
