Susanna Reid has recently made a big decision within her personal life, as she last week confirmed her on/off romance with Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish is back on. The couple began dating in 2018 – four years after Susanna split from Dominic Cotton, dad to her three teenage sons, after being together for 16 years – but they split a year later.
The romance came to light again last week when Susanna, 50, interviewed Steve on GMB, and the pair were later pictured on a dinner date in London.
But now Susanna is said to be at a crossroads in her professional life, too.
TV insiders reveal that, after Piers Morgan’s dramatic departure from GMB in March, which has seen a slump in one million viewers, ITV bosses are now worried she may also walk.
A source tells Closer, “There has been a lot of upset over the falling ratings, and it’s a real concern for bosses that Susanna could walk away, or even join forces with Piers on another show.”
Despite being a controversial figure, the show averaged 1.3m viewers with Piers on board – peaking at 1.8m on the day he walked off air – and dropped to 800k a day later.
At the time of her co-host’s sudden exit – following controversial remarks he made about Meghan Markle’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey – Susanna, said, “Piers and I have disagreed over many things, and that dynamic is one of the things viewers loved about the programme.”
But the source adds that, despite it all, there is still a lot of “love and respect” between the pair. The insider says, “Susanna and Piers have been talking a lot, and they’ve put aside any differences they may have.”

They continued, “Susanna is still fiercely loyal to Piers, they’ve always got on despite not agreeing on everything, and made a real ‘dream team’ for the show’s fans. So now, coupled with the falling ratings, she is feeling torn between her loyalty to the show and a potential new career move with Piers, which he promises her could be the next big move for them.”
While Richard Madeley has emerged as a popular contender to replace Piers, the source adds, “One of the big problems they are having is recruiting the kind of guests they want, particularly big names who Piers would speak to ahead of interviews to help persuade them to go on.
“If things don’t improve, it will leave Susanna in a very difficult position over whether it is in her best interest to stay.”
