Strictly Come Dancing’s head judge Shirley Ballas has opened up for the first time about having her breast implants removed after becoming seriously ill last year.

The dancing pro revealed that since having her 17-year-old implants removed in October last year she’s seen a dramatic improvement in her health, following months of sickness.

Things came to head after learning that cancer ran in her family and a mammogram was inconclusive.

“This was the first time I have not been sick all winter,” she said. “On last year’s tour I was really poorly but, touch wood, I have been fine.

“I was always ill with the flu or a cold. A lady who did my book said it could be the breast implants. Then I got that job on Strictly and did Who Do You Think You Are? and I realised I had cancer going back in my family.”

While many TV programmes adjust scheduled production amid the current pandemic, including TOWIE, Love Island and EastEnders, BBC's controller of programming, Dan McGolphin confirmed that the 2020 series WILL be airing.

He said, "It wouldn't be the same if we didn't have Strictly in the autumn, would it?

"So no, of course the BBC is doing everything it can, and I know that everyone involved in that production team would absolutely love that to happen this autumn.

"We've really just got to keep watching the government advice, thinking about what's possible. And if there's any way of bringing Strictly back this autumn, then we absolutely will. That's very much our intentions, so yeah, fingers crossed."
