As faithful fans of the show will know, The Wanted’s Jay McGuinness was crowned the winner of Strictly Come Dancing 2015 this weekend.

Looking completely overcome, he buried his face in his hands - and failed to hide the wobble in his voice during the post-win interview.

But it seems as if at least one of the show’s judges doesn’t think that Jay’s fancy footwork deserved that trophy.

Talking about the winner during an interview on the red button service, Craig Revel Horwood said: "Jay won the hearts and the minds of the nation.

"And in this competition as you know it's not always necessarily the best dancer that wins the competition."

Craig, however, lavished praise upon former Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote, telling her that he’d love to put her in one of his West End shows.

“You have been extraordinary,” he told her.

“I think one of the biggest journeys of the performance... I'd be proud to put you in any of my West End shows.”

We guess that’s Georgia tipped for West End stardom, then!

Meanwhile, sitting down with Lorraine for her ITV show, Jay McGuinness addressed rumours of a romance between him and dance partner Aliona Vilani.

Speaking about their close relationship, Jay said: “When you dance with someone you have to create romance sometimes and people then want to see that almost.

“But a lot of the time the papers create it and that sort of thing, but I think no matter what I say people will write whatever they want to write.”

“We did something that so few people do together, I genuinely will treasure it forever.

“Honestly, you spend that many hours together you talk about every single thing, like the most trivial and the most pretentious, literally everything.

“No matter what happens you get a best friend out of Strictly.”
