In the wake of Britain legalizing same sex marriage, resident QI host and national treasure Stephen Fry has released a touching video on how he really feels about his sexuality.

Beginning the video, for charity Proud2Be, with a list of things he’s proud of, including being British and being tall, Stephen then goes onto discuss that no one should be made to feel ashamed of their sexuality.

‘[I’m] not proud because I think being gay is better than being anything else but I think it’s a wonderful thing to be in love and you follow your heart’ he says.

Adding: ‘Desire is wonderful and you follow whatever gland it is that controls your desire.’

Fry, who has openly discussed his struggles with manic depression in the past, recently admitted he tried to kill himself whilst working on a series about gay-hating bigots in Africa last year.

The comedian was visiting Uganda when he took an overdose of pills and vodka and was found by the show's producer.

But the experience has obviously given him a renewed sense of pride in his sexuality, with him stating on the video: ‘I would never apologise for being born the way I was and for feeling the way I do.’

‘To apologize for how one loves - that’s crazy. What would another species think of us if they caught us doing that?’
