Claudia Winkleman's half-sister, Sophie Winkleman has been involved in a terrifying car crash and has been left 'seriously injured'.
The actress was being driven home from a film set, when the head-on collision left Sophie with a suspected broken back and broken foot.
Sophie, who is married to Lord Frederick Windsor and has two children, is currently recovering in hospital.
Sophie was sitting in the back seat of the chauffeur-driven car when the accident happened. It is believed another vehicle swerved to avoid an animal in the road and ploughed into her car – injuring her and both drivers.
A source told the Mail Online, 'It was a terrible shock for the whole family,’
‘Freddie’s looking after their two girls while Sophie recovers. It will be a long road for her but we’re all so thankful she’s been told there won’t be any long-term problems.’
Sophie is known by her maiden name for film roles and is formally titled Lady Frederick Windsor.
Sophie was on her way home from filming Trust, a major new American TV series for Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle at nearby stately home Audley End House when the accident happened ten days ago.
The actress has previously starred in popular tv programmes such as Peep Show and Two And A Half Men.
We wish Sophie, a speedy recovery!
