Yes, married
The 73-year-old revealed the news on Twitter, posting a photo of him and 35 year-old jazz singer Sunny in a playground ball pit with the caption: ‘Yes, married.’
And it is believed that his long-time friend and X-Men co-star Sir Ian McKellen conducted the ceremony.
Sir Ian, who played Gandalf in the Lord Of The Rings, posted a photo on his official Facebook page showing him holding up a black T-shirt with ‘Minister’ written on it.
The actor revealed he would officiate his friend Patrick’s wedding in an interview with Jonathan Ross earlier this year.
He told the TV host: ‘I am going to marry Patrick. Well, no, how else do you put that?I am going to officiate at his wedding.’
Asked if he was legally qualified to preside over the couple's nuptials, he said: ‘I don't know. But in Massachusetts, or in the middle of
America somewhere, you get a friend along, and I read out the words, and Sunny and Patrick will then be married.'’
The couple met when Sir Patrick was performing Macbeth in New York and they have been together for five years.
It is the actor’s third marriage and he has two children.
He married his first wife, Sheila Falconer, in 1966 and they had two children together before separating in 1990.
He married his second wife, Wendy Neuss, in 2000 and the union lasted until 2003.
