Sinitta is already mum to Magdelena, 11 and Zac, 10, who she adopted after suffering years of miscarriages, failed IVF treatments and losing twins who were carried by a surrogate.

But the So Macho singer is set to add another to her family by fostering.

The 52-year-old revealed that she initially thought she would find the process way too hard. Speaking to The Sun Online, Sinitta said: “I am actually in the process of fostering a baby.”

Recalling a time someone told her about how they helped a homeless child who was “on the brink of death”, she explained how they gave them love and care in their last three weeks of life, and that the child was truly grateful.

“I’ve been struggling with the idea of fostering, thinking if I foster a child would I be able to give the child back to its mother or up for adoption when the time came?” Sinitta continued.

“Then, hearing this story, I realised you know what? What about just being an answer to a need.

“Rather than thinking about how difficult it would be for me to give the child up, what about being that person who gave that child three months, six months, of love and care and a great start in life, before they’re with their forever family.

“It’s something I think I could do.”

Fostering a child may well be the perfect choice for Sinitta, as she has said her career doesn’t give her the position to look after a newborn baby.

Wanting to give a child a better start in life, Simon Cowell’s best friend is hoping she can be an “ongoing answer” to child in need of fostering in the future, but for now will “start with one and see how it goes”.

Sinitta is also an ambassador for the Alternative Parenting Show, taking place in London on Saturday 24 September.

The family planning and fertility event, which is Europe’s biggest is in its fifth year and aims to help people struggling to conceive naturally, as well as giving them expert advice on fertility, surrogacy, IVF, adoption and fostering.

Sinitta also revealed that she experienced living in a foster home when she was younger, as her aunt used to take care of her often and she was also a foster carer.

"So it was an easy step really because [fostering] was something I’d always planned to do," she explained.
