The recovering singer made the announcement to show solidarity with women enduring the same procedure, in light of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
She said in a statement: ‘In light of Breast Cancer Awareness Month l wanted to take the opportunity to support a cause particularly close to my heart.
‘l was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time earlier this year and am currently in the final stages of recovery after undergoing a double mastectomy.’

She added: ‘It has been an intense journey but l am feeling great and ready to start the next chapter.’
‘Breast Cancer Awareness Month gives all who are facing this disease a chance to gain strength and support from each other.
The 45 year-old singer had cancelled her European tour in February after being diagnosed with the disease for a second time after making a full recovery in 2003 thanks to surgery and radiotherapy.
She highlighted the importance of ‘early detection’ in her recovery.
‘Early detection has saved my life twice. I will continue to battle and lend my voice in any way I can,’ she said.
She is the latest in a number of celebrities who have recently revealed they have undergone preventative surgery.
Angelina Jolie revealed earlier this year that she had a double masectomy to reduce her risk of developing breast cancer.
Sharon Osbourne revealed in November that she had gone through with the procedure after being told she carried a gene which increased the risk of developing the disease.
Former Liberty X singer Michelle Heaton also had a double mastectomy last year after she discovered she had an 80 per cent chance of developing breast cancer.
