Simon Webbe from Blue has begged fans to be more open about mental health in the wake of his sibling's death
The singer took to his Instagram account to inform his 70k followers of the tragic death of his half-brother Straeon and asked them to support those suffering from poor mental health.
But one commenter was quick to slam Simon for "attention seeking", claiming that she was the aunt of Simon's deceased half brother and that he hadn't even spelled his name correctly in his post.
"I don’t normally post negativity but feel I have to in this instance," wrote commenter bazlar23. "Simon has not contacted his brother Straeon in years, he can’t even spell his name.
"Never got permission to use Straeon’s photo which is s treasured procession of Straeons mother my sister who is still grieving the loss of her only child."
She continued, "Not even a word of condolence to his mother yet you saw fit to share with the world to gain the attention you crave. I speak to my sister regularly and she is not doing well and all you have done is make the grieving/mourning so much worse.
"How you plaster this all over the popular media and not think about the people it would hurt."
The original post, uploaded by Simon six days ago, spoke about his heartbreak at losing his brother and implored others to take their mental health seriously.
“It’s 2019 and I feel this is a year where we should be thankful, stop searching for perfection cause you will never find it”, he began the post.
“I lost my brother Straon to suicide while I was working in Bradford! He was someone I thought I’d see again and hurts me deep that people, like myself struggle everyday with Mental health issues.
“It’s taboo and needs to be brought to the forefront, we can all start by asking someone, anyone close to you 'how are you felly feeling' after that the key is to listen.”
He continued, “Can we start there? I’m back on socials and will support the #mentalhealthawareness movement as I always have. Please be brave and talk!!!!”
