Spice Girl Mel, 39, was recently announced as the newest member of the judging panel, after signing a contract for a reported £1million.
Cheryl, 30, has taken back her seat on the panel, after being sensationally dropped from the USA version of the talent show in 2011.
While some might be wondering what Mel will be like as a judge, show boss Simon Cowell, 54, has insisted that both she and Cheryl are doing great.
Today he tweeted: “Just got back from Manchester. Cheryl and Mel really really good. This is going to be a fun year on X factor.”
Mel was previously a guest judge on the show and definitely didn’t hold back when it came to delivering negative comments to the hopefuls.
But anyone hoping for fireworks between her and timid Cheryl might be left disappointed.
Louis Walsh, the only judge to have been present since the start of the series, said that the two singers get on well.
Speaking to The Sun, Louis said: “The first session went well, it was great. It’s fun and I think both of the girls will get on well.
“It’s all going great. We’re going to get the fun back into the show. Simon is on top form and the talent is all good, with all new faces.”
