Speaking on a US chat show, TV’s Mr. Nasty admitted that he wanted the Spice Girls when they first came about, but they went with another label.

Yes, Victoria Beckham, Melanie B, Melanie C, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell, chose to go with a rival record company and Simon has regretted it ever since.

When asked by the host what his biggest regret was, it took him a few minutes to think but he said: “What can I admit to? Spice Girls was probably my biggest mistake.

“I knew they were going to be big and I offered them a deal but I was just too late on the deal and they didn’t want to sign with me, that kind of hurt at the time.”

But he quickly reminded viewers of his nasty side when he wasn’t very nice about Westlife.

He said: “I quickly put together another group. Well, another group auditioned for me. They were called Westlife.

“When they first came along they were the ugliest boyband in the world. Seriously, you couldn’t get uglier.

“I said to the manager at the time ‘forget it.’ Then he re-auditioned but one of the ugly ones dyed his hair blonde for the second time I saw them and he got back into the group.”

And, quickly reminding us it’s all about the money with Mr. Cowell, he continued: “I didn’t recognize him but it all worked out fine. They sold about 50 million albums or something so it all worked out well enough.”
