It’s something I hadn’t thought of before, but now I feel good about it
The music boss made the comments during a surprise appearance at last night’s premiere of One Direction’s ‘This Is Us.’
As he arrived at the premiere he made a cheeky remark about his pride for Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Niall Horan.
He said: 'This is like a dream come true... I feel like a father.'
As his golden boys promoted their new film, Simon told reporters: ‘Things are changing in my life for the better. I’m proud to be a dad.’
‘It’s something I hadn’t thought of before, but now I feel good about it,’ said the 53 year-old.
Simon has remained tight-lipped on the subject of his impending fatherhood since the reports first surfaced at the end of last month. At a press conference earlier this month ahead of the new series of the US X Factor, Simon refused to comment.
Lauren is a very special girl
‘Unfortunately, I have to keep this, for the moment, private. It's just one of those things. Thank you very much anyway,’ he told the press.
But last night, the dad-to-be happily joked with reporters about his silence.
‘I really haven’t read the newspapers. Did I miss anything?’ he asked.

The media mogul even acknowledged his affection for the mother of his child – who is separated from Simon's good friend Andrew Silverman – calling her ‘a very special girl.’
But mother-to-be Lauren was at home in New York last night while Simon’s ex-lovers Mezhgan Hussainy and Sinitta joined him at the premiere.
