The X Factor has just revealed a star-studded judging line up for this year’s series, but boss Simon Cowell reckons it could be a ‘make or break’ year for the talent contest.
In a chat with the Daily Star Sunday, Simon revealed: "It does feel like make or break this year but I feel like every year is make or break, to be honest.
"There were certain years when certain people won and it was like 'Oh Christ'."
Last year saw the show receive record low ratings, compared to several years ago when the contest ruled as King of Saturday night TV.
Simon reckons that there is still plenty of life left in The X Factor despite last year’s falling viewing figures.
He continued: "Last year's show made me realise there's still a lot of talent to be discovered.
You never forget those days when you feel a star is being born."
The X Factor is set to return later this year with Simon and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini on the judging panel.
They will be joined by newbies Nick Grimshaw and Rita Ora.
