Unlucky-in-love star Sheridan Smith is on the hunt for a new man, Closer can reveal.
The actress, 42, posted the exact same inspirational quote as Lisa Armstrong did on her Instagram account last week.
And now insiders say that following some rocky romances in the past, she’s now dipping her toe in the dating pool once again.
“Sheridan’s making no secret of the fact that she wants a man, but she also doesn’t want to settle or fall into any kind of toxic relationship,” a source tells us.
“She’s found it really hard looking for love on dating apps as someone in the public eye – so she’s hoping to meet someone more organically.
“She’s told pals she’s open to being set up and going on blind dates, but this time around she’s making sure that her boundaries are clear when it comes to what she wants out of a relationship and what she’s willing to put up with.”
The Royle Family star has had a rocky road in the hunt for love. She previously dated her Gavin & Stacey co-star James Corden from 2007 to 2009, then between 2018 and 2021 was in a relationship with insurance broker Jamie Horn, with whom she shares son Billy, four.
Last year, it looked like Sheridan had found romance again with former boxer Dave Ryan, but the pair ended on good terms in the spring. At the time, Sheridan had her highly-anticipated West End show Opening Night to distract her, but she was dealt another blow in April after the show closed two months early. In one interview, Sheridan broke down in tears as she admitted that she was “heartbroken” over the closure and blamed herself for not being able to “sell” tickets.
Sheridan, however, put on a brave face at the Olivier Awards and BAFTAs a few months ago, where she showed off her recent weight loss, and the insider says that Sheridan has “come out the other side stronger”, and wants a man to add to, not complete, her life.
The source says, “She’s a hopeless romantic and hasn’t given up on love, but she’s treading carefully in the dating pool. She feels older and wiser when it comes to men now and she’s determined not to repeat old patterns or make any more mistakes.”
