Shayne Ward went along to a casting session for the ITV soap a few days ago and, while he’s still waiting to hear back from Corrie bosses about his audition, the pop star has opened up about the type of role he’d like to play.
"Everyone says I'd play a good bad boy, I think it's because of the tattoos"
Speaking with The Mirror, he said: "Everyone says I'd play a good bad boy, I think it's because of the tattoos.
"I would love to play a bad boy, especially on Coronation Street.”
Adding that he’s a “massive fan of the show”, Shayne explained that he is trying not to get his hopes up too much at this stage.
He said: “I’m not an established actor but I'm willing to learn.”
And, speaking about Girls Aloud’s Sarah Harding landing a role in the soap, he added: “I heard about Sarah getting a role in the show, people said it might be an April Fool's Day joke, but I think she'll be brilliant.
"I met her during an audition for Popstars The Rivals and I've known her for years. I saw her again during the War of the Worlds tour."
Shayne, when asked about the possibility of playing Sarah’s love interest in the show, said: "I've done that kind of thing in videos, I'd be completely up for it, with Sarah or anybody ... maybe Rita!"
