Coronation Street actor Shayne Ward has opened up about life as a first-time dad to his baby girl Willow
Shayne Ward welcomed his first baby with girlfriend Sophie Austin last December.
Announcing the news on Twitter, he wrote that they had called their little girl Willow May Ward, and that the new parents were "completely besotted and in love with the deepest of hearts".
N'aww!
And six months on, Shayne has revealed on This Morning that he is absolutely loving his new role as a dad.
Speaking to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, the new dad gushed over six-month-old Willow.
He said: "I adore her, she's incredible. She's at the rapid-rolling stage at the moment... I just love her so much, I was always meant to be a dad, with Sophie, and we've created Willow. It's been incredible."
Shayne, who plays Aidan Connor on Coronation Street, then opened up about his ex-Hollyoaks actress girlfriend Sophie Austin: "Sophie's such an incredible mum, and I'm always working."
The 32-year-old then let slip some news that will excite fans of Sophie: "Sophie's just starting a new job, and she's probably going to kill me for saying this, but I have to say it because I'm excited for you, but she's just started Call the Midwife."
He excitedly added that he would be "daddy day care" when she goes back to work.
Shayne, who initially found fame as the winner of The X Factor in 2005, also revealed that he would not rule out a returned to music: "It's not completely on the backburner. What I appreciate from Coronation Street is... At first, I thought it was one or the other, but a couple of the guys have released EPs or albums, like Bruno Langley and Catherine Tyldesley, so I mean, who knows?
"A lot of fans want me to release something, so it would be great to release an EP.
"But I do love Coronation Street, I'm very happy there."
Shayne's character Aidan is currently embroiled in a love triangle between his fiancée Eva Price, played by Catherine Tyldesley, and Maria Connor, played by Samia Longchambon.
He explained what was going on in Aidan's head: "At first he was confused, because he did fall in love with two women who both had great qualities.
"Since Maria instigated the affair again, now I don't have any sympathy for Aidan, because he made that choice to cheat again, so he doesn't know what to do now."
But Shayne revealed his own opinion on the matter: "But the pressure is on now, because he should finish it with Eva."
He went on to confess that he gets a lot of flack from fans who take the storyline very seriously: "I was at a polo event just recently in Wales and I walked into the bar to get a drink and got a lot of things shouted at me, which I think is great really... Obviously it's been portrayed well, and it's working."
He added: "If I was Aidan, I would literally run right now, because Eva is a woman scorned."
