The comedian- who outraged the country with his dark jokes about rape- released a single called ‘Proper Moist’ earlier this year before his infamy spread.

The single managed to land in the top 20, leading to Dapper Laughs- real name Daniel O’Reily- becoming long listed for a BRIT award for Best Breakthrough Act.

A petition was launched earlier this year to ban Dapper Laughs from performing at a UK university. This was then followed by another petition demanding ITV cancel his television series.

The calls to ban Dapper Laughs came after he made a joke about an audience member, telling the crowd that she was shockingly ‘gagging for a rape’.

O’Reily then made an appearance on News Night, telling viewers he had ‘retired’ his character and that the controversy had ‘wrecked’ his life.

It is unlikely that Dapper Laughs will win the BRIT award, but nonetheless critics are outraged by his appearance on the long list.
