Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt has been brightening up our nights in front of the TV since 2013 with her quick wit and hilarious one liners.

But behind the perky persona, Scarlett has revealed that she has been suffering as a result of online bullies.

The 25 year old from Durham recently spoke to the Belfast Telegraph about the trouble she has with social media users who use the various platforms to bully her about her weight and appearance.

“People have said, ‘You’re that fat you should just go and die,’” she said in the revealing interview.

Scarlett, who used to be a ballrooom dancer, recently spoke about her health issues after being tested for diabetes. She was also told by health professionals that her BMI was dangerous and made a promise to herself to commit to a healthier lifestyle.

However, despite her attempts to improve her wellbeing, she admitted that it isn’t always easy to ignore the bullies who try and drag her down.

“There are odd ones, mostly men, who criticise me about my weight and size and say I’m ugly. I’d be lying if I said it didn’t hurt sometimes,” she said.

Scarlett is known for being talkative and outspoken on the show but she hasn’t always been so confident. She was involved in a car accident when she was younger which caused her teeth to go black, and she also suffers from Bell’s palsy. This made her a victim of school bullies and in her teenage years she moved schools to get away from the nasty people around her.

But Scarlett is less worried about what she thinks, and is more distressed by how the vile comments affect her parents, Mark and Betty, who also appear on the show.

“My mum’s cried about stuff she’s read about me, so I end up putting on a brave face because I don’t want her to be upset,” she said.

Fans have taken to Twitter to offer their support to the reality TV star.
