****In an interview with the Sun on Sunday's Fabulous magazine, Sam Faiers has opened up about how partner Paul Knightley was scrutinized by viewers of Sam Faiers: The Baby Diaries documentary about his "controlling" behaviour.
The new mum told the magazine "I actually got more offended than Paul did. Paul was like: "Don't bite, I can take a bit of stick!" But he's never done TV before so he was nervous. And as a couple that's just the way we are. We're old-fashioned. I was brought up in a family where the women cook and clean and the men go to work, and that's just the way we are. That's all I've known".
After Paul being branded by viewers as controlling after he came across as rather forceful when it came to Sam having a home birth and making her return a bag full of baby designer goods just because he didn't like them, Sam shows how she disagrees with the speculation. She says "The thing about Paul is that he cares about me and the baby so much that people mistake that for being controlling. When I showed him the baby clothes and he was like: "I'm not too sure on that", it's not him being an arsehole, it's just because he really cares about how the baby looks. He's a perfectionist. He just wants me to be my best, look my best, have the best career I can. He's genuinely interested, whereas most blokes aren't".
She continues; "He just likes everything to be done proper, and I like that because it rubs off on me. I'm so much more attentive to things right now".
And on that infamous 'kiss' with his mum that sent Twitter into meltdown? Sam said; "Me and Paul watched the show before it went on air and changed some bits and bobs, but it didn't occur to us that the kiss would cause a problem. If I'd have known it was going to be such a big deal, I'd have taken it out because it's just not worth it".
And on motherhood in general, Sam expresses how she couldn't be happier - "I always knew I wanted children, but I didn't realise I'd love it this much. People always tell their horror stories, but I'm the complete opposite - I love every minute of it".
