Sam Faiers has come under fire following her latest Instagram post

Mum-of-two Sam Faiers has been slammed by her Instagram followers after she took her son Paul, two, and Rosie, nine months, to the zoo.

The Mummy Diaries star shared photos of her little one at Hertfordshire Zoo and wrote: "Fun family morning out.

"Paul’s favourite thing is animals 🐵 so wonderful to see his little face light up when he sees them in the real ☺️"

However while some fans complimented how adorable the family day out looked, others were quick to slam her for taking her children to the zoo.

One person commented: "Poor lion! You shouldn’t be encouraging this animal cruelty! People boycott sea world but will happily go to a zoo?! #doublestandards"

Someone else said: "Poor poor lion, this is heartbreaking. What kind of life is this 😢"

A third wrote: "I hope you’ll show him what happens within factory farms and slaughter houses then 😟"

Another fumed: "That poor lion 🦁 pacing is an extreme sign of distress and it should be removed from that extremely small enclosure ASAP. How does the zoo have no morals letting it be treated like that! From these comments this zoo is known for its poor standards 😞"

One more added: "Awful... just to pleasure your son.. that’s why we have captive animals. For idiots like you 😢"

However, the Herfordshire Zoo commented on the post and wrote: "It was great to have you and your family down here again @samanthafaiers 🐾 Our White Lioness is walking along the front as she is waiting for our Keepers who were soon to bring her and the family their lunch!

"They have a routine and they know when they are due to be fed 🦁 We are a fully registered charity who have donated £5 million to conservation over the past 30 years."

Others were quick to defend the zoo, with one person writing: "If they weren’t locked up, we probably wouldn’t have any of these beautiful animals for our children to see? So sometimes it’s a good thing!"

Someone else said: "Omg get a grip its a fun family day do use have nothing better to do [sic]"

One more added: "People go to the zoo every day, if it wasn’t for zoos a lot of animals would be extinct, I bet you used to go when you where little!!"
