Sam Faiers and Joey Essex have weathered more than their fair share of romantic storms but when Closer caught up with the 23-year-old star she revealed things are finally on track for the celebrity couple.
In fact she insists the relationship couldn’t be further away from how it was last summer after she was left devastated when they pair called off her four-month engagement. The turnaround came once both Sam and Joey quit TOWIE and reunited, and now, Sam reveals she’s much happier that the relationship is away from the intrusion of the TOWIE cameras.
Sam says: “Being on the show put a pressure on our romance too and I feel we’re much stronger now we’ve both left TOWIE Now we’re a bit older and we understand what’s important. We just want to enjoy spending time together.”
Despite being completely loved-up Sam admits we’ll be waiting a while to hear wedding bells even though her sister Billie Faiers plans to marry her fiancé Greg Shepherd next year.
She adds: “If Joey proposed, it would be a surprise put it that way! It’s not on the cards. Me and Joey were in a whirlwind romance before and we did rush into everything – including the engagement.”
And whilst Sam declares her and Joey, also 23, aren’t ready to start a family of their own just yet, she says they’ll be getting plenty of parenting practice when Billie, 24 gives birth to her baby girl who is due later this month.
She adds: “Billie’s daughter will be great parenting practice for me and Joey. I cannot wait to meet my niece! Me and the family are planning a lovely trip to Spain once the baby’s born, which will be so nice.”
