You may know Sam (Samantha) Bailey as winner of the tenth series of the X Factor, but since then she has had some remarkable achievements, including her number one album and stage debut - and not to mention that she has recently been crowned as Closer's Mum of the Year 2016! Here's everything you need to know about the sensational songstress that won us all over back in 2013:

Sam's Early life and family

The X Factor winner of the 2013 run of the show was born in 1977 in Bexley, London to parents Ronnie and Jackie Bailey - and then grew up in Sidcup in London along with brothers Charlie and Danny, where she attended school and college, and then went on to become a prison officer at HM Prison Gartree near Leicestershire.

Sam's Early career

As well as having a full-time job as a prison officer, Sam also worked as a professional singer prior to finding fame - working as a singer alongside her full time job and occasionally working on cruise ships.

Marriage and children

Sam lives in Leicester with her husband Craig who she met back in 2002 and married a year later in Las Vegas. The pair have 3 children together - Tommy, Miley and Brooke, as well as a deaf Spring Spaniel dog called Molly.

Sam's X Factor win

Back in 2013, Sam got the nation listening to her after initially belting out Beyonce's "Listen" to perfection at her first audition - a performance for which she received a standing ovation from all four of the competition's judges. She then went on to sing Michael Jackson's "Who's Loving You" at her arena audition, which saw another standing ovation and floods of tears from judge Nicole Scherzinger who said "Sam Bailey, everybody remember that name!". Sam's designated mentor was Sharon Osbourne, who saw her through to the end of the competition that she won. After winning, Bailey received a £1million recording contract and the unbelievable opportunity to support Beyonce at ten of her upcoming shows - a figure that was eventually cut down due to The X Factor Live Tour that Sam had to perform at.

The Power Of Love

Sam's winners single "skyscraper" was released the day after her win on 16th December 2013, and she then released her debut album "The Power Of Love" on 24th March 2014. This year she has been cast to play Mamma Morton in the UK tour of the music Chicago.
