Fans of Sam Bailey have slammed the star after she made calls for the UK to ‘shut its borders’ following Fridays terror attacks across the channel.

The mum-of-three took to Twitter to share her thoughts, writing: “OMG watching Sky news!!! My thoughts go out to all that have been killed in Paris tonight and their families.

“OMG I think it’s time to shut our borders! It’s only a matter of time before this happens in England! Keep safe people and be vigilant x.”

She was then criticised by followers for the comments, prompting her to delete the tweets.

Sam, 38, then addressed her decision to delete the tweets, writing: “Tweet deleted due to the amount of abuse I’ve received! I know what I meant and I apologise if people didn’t! I don’t deserve threats though!

“People need to pipe the f*** down!”

Twitter trolls went as far as to tell the star to ‘kill’ herself, causing Sam to fight back with: “Tonight I’ve been called fat, ugly, b***h’, told to kill myself, + worse! Put on skynews! All coz I said what lots are thinking! Prayers for France x.

“Stop abusing me for having an opinion! Even if you think it was a s*** one! Say a prayer for France! It could be us next unless something is done!”

Sam wasn’t the only star to come under fire for voicing her views on the Paris attacks.

Comedian Jason Manford has his Facebook account suspended after he wrote a controversial message about the attackers.
