Ryan Thomas bowed out of Coronation Street last night as his character Jason Grimshaw headed off to Thailand for a fresh start after his late father was wrongfully accused of Callum Logan’s murder.

And after Ryan’s emotional final scenes aired, his brother Adam Thomas took to social media to say how proud he is of “the man behind the character”.

Adam posted an old photo of Ryan as Jason on Instagram, captioning the post: “Once a legend always a legend…

“Most you don't get to really see the man behind the character only a lucky few that do and am proud to say that man is my big brother and I couldn't be more happier for him right now go get em [sic]”

And Adam wasn’t the only one to pay tribute to the actor who has played Jason on the ITV soap for more than 15 years.

Ryan himself took to Instagram yesterday to post a black and white shot of him on the set of Coronation Street.

He captioned the post: “Thank you to everyone at "Coronation Street"

for making the last 16 years of my life so special, time for a new chapter, new beginning wherever that may take me next.

“I'm excited to grow as an actors and more importantly, as a human being! And my last thanks goes to you lot!!!

“For supporting Jason Grimshaw since 2000, there's a lot love for "Jason" and it never goes unnoticed. Thank you so so much!!!!”

We sure will miss seeing Ryan on our screens, won’t you?

Good luck in your new chapter Ryan, we can’t wait to see what the future holds for you!
